Reads Golden Opportunity, by Donna Marie Rogers, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) Donna's first Yellow Rose deserves the Reviewer Top Pick it received from Diana Coyle at Night Owl Reviews. Golden Opportunity is a great, sexy read that shows hard work, determination, a little bit of luck and a lot of dreaming can pay off in the end. It's easy to sympathize with Angela's yearning for a place to call home, yet I understood James' alarm and frustration when she showed up at the front door claiming half of his ranch was hers. Great job, Donna! ~*~ It Takes Moxie, by Delia Deleest, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) Delia Deleest pens a wild, non-stop caper across the country that will have you laughing out loud. Moxie attracts trouble like a magnet, and poor Ben has the misfortune of being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Or is he...? No one does the roaring 20's like Delia, and I can't wait for the sequel that a little birdie told me is on the way. <G> ~*~ Eye of the Beholder, by Delia Deleest, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) A disfigured, tortured hero who longs for someone to see the man on the inside; a scared heroine with a feisty side who sacrifices everything for her brother's life...in this touching book, Delia does a great job of showing that beauty really is in the Eye of the Beholder. ~*~ Creme Brule Upset, by Laurel Bradley, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) Laurel Bradley has a way with dialogue that had me smiling the whole way through, as well as asking myself, "How does she come up with these great lines?" Patrice is one heck of a heroine, and her friends David and Bubba are unforgetable! Loved the book and it deserves the rave reviews she's received so far. (Warning~you may develop dangerous ice cream cravings after spending some time with Dr. Delicious. <G>) ~*~ The Orchard Hill Romances, by Kara Lynn Russell, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) Kara Lynn Russell knows how to deliver a fun romance touched with inspiration. This series pits rival town matchmakers, Misty and Pansy, against each other as they see who can make the most love matches in one year. What's on the line? Bragging rights. No heart is safe in Orchard Hill. I've thoroughly enjoyed the first three stories of the series that I've read so far. ~*~ Nick & Noelle, by Kara Lynn Russell, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) I loved the competition between the two main characters in this book. Fun and heartwarming, this is a great holiday read! ~*~ Donna Michaels, author (added 8/5/08) Donna has so many titles listed with The Wild Rose Press, I can't go into detail about them all. I've read Meet Your Mate, The Truth About Daydreams, Ten Things I'd Do For A Cowboy, and Thanks For Giving ~ they're all very good reads I have no problem recommending. However, my absolute favorites are: Valentine's Day Do-Over, and Valentine's Day Do-Over Part II: The Siblings. Both are laugh out loud funny, and keepers on my 'e-shelf'. ~*~ Stacy Dawn, author (added 8/5/08) Stacy has lots of wonderful titles, too. <G> She consistantly delivers a great read with the titles I've read: Reindeer Games, Luck Be a Cowboy, and Marry Me, Cowboy. Tied in first place as my favorites of hers are Christmas On Parole and Wanna Make a Bet. There's a couple more on my To Buy list, too. ~*~ The Daddy Spell, by Patti Ann Colt, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) This book was a hit for me! Loved the characters, and who can resist Boo and Lindy, the matchmaking little twins who desperately want a Daddy? ~*~ Thin Ice, by Liana Laverentz, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) Who said no sports heroes in romance??? Hockey anyone? This multi-award-winning book is a definite must read full of emotion, courage and love. ~*~ Logan's Redemption, by Cara Marsi, published by The Wild Rose Press (added 8/5/08) Fast paced romantic suspense that kept me reading late into the night; simply a great book! ~*~ BET ME, by Jennifer Crusie Funny and fast paced, Bet Me kept me eagerly reading to the end. Jennifer Crusie's humor is great! ANYONE BUT YOU, by Jennifer Crusie Fred's book. Fred's a part beagle, part basset hound. Fred's hilarious without even trying to be. Oh, and Nina and Alex are pretty fun, too, as they try to avoid their mutual attraction and deal with disastrous dates in the process. Yet another book that made me stir dinner longer than I needed to just so I could keep reading. THE MEDUSA GAME, by Cindy Dees (published Mar. 2006) This is the first Silhouette Bombshell I've read and I really enjoyed the non-stop action. Plus, there are some one-liners that make me want to re-read the book so I can find them again. It also helps that I love ice-skating and this is set at the US Olympics ice-skating competition, with a refreshing (and true) portrayal of the fun, friendly, and supportive skating community. FRONT PORCH PRINCESS, by Kathryn Springer "Life, faith and getting it right..." Written in the first person (something I haven't read much of and wasn't sure I'd like), I discovered right away that I liked the main character, Elise. Kathryn Springer blended just the right amount of humor, soft-sarcasm, self-deprecation, realization, vulnerability...I could go on and on. All the characters were so well rounded, realistic and touching that she brought tears to my eyes more than once, as well as making me laugh out loud. I read the book in one day and can't wait to recommend it to others. I was happy to read at the end that Kathryn is at work on Bernice's story (Elise's best friend) and look forward to it with anticipation! Other books by Kathryn Springer that I've read and enjoyed: TESTED BY FIRE and HER CHRISTMAS WISH. REMEMBER WHEN, by Nora Roberts/JD Robb There are two parts to this book, the first a love story written by Nora Roberts involving a diamond heist in which only ¾ of the diamonds are recovered, and the second part set some fifty years in the future with Lieutenant Eve Dallas, written by JD Robb. The quest for the last quarter of the diamonds is the backdrop in the search for a cold-blooded murderer. It's been awhile since I've read Nora Roberts, and the first I've read JD Robb. I liked getting a sample of both her styles of writing through the continued storyline. She's wonderful at writing humor in both parts; sweet and loving in part one, and sarcastically witty (in my opinion) in part two. Definitely a good read! THE PERFECT HUSBAND, by Lisa Gardner Romantic suspense that definitely kept me reading into the night. Lisa does a great job of creating characters that really come alive, whether it's the Hero, Heroine, or the Villain. She made me cry at the end--not something I usually do in a romantic suspense book. I've heard her books, THE OTHER DAUGHTER, and most recently, ALONE, are very good as well. Movies JUST LIKE HEAVEN, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo David moves into his new apartment, but the previous tenant hasn't moved out yet...because she doesn't know she's dead. Or is she? The progression of David and Elizabeth's relationship is fun as they try to reconnect her spirit to her body, and Mark Ruffalo's performance made me laugh numerous times! My husband, who appreciates more comedy than romance, even admitted to liking it. SAHARA, Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn, Penelope Cruz A fun adventure on the same order as National Treasure, only the guys are on a hunt for a Civil War ironclad battleship that takes them, of all places, to the Sahara Desert in North Africa. I know, it seems I have a thing for Matthew, but honestly, he just so happens to be in a lot of movies that I've enjoyed. (And I'm certainly not going to complain about his looks.) However, Steve Zahn's performance stands out just as much for me in this movie. His character is cute and funnier than ever with just a touch of crazy (to match Matthew's character).
